Private Chapel and Loggia
Completed 2008. Peytonsville. Addition

Spiritual practice is a familiar part of many 
people's daily lives yet it is not commonly
addressed in our home designs. Typically, 
private chapels are free standing structures. The
challenge was to create a place of worship
directly attached to the client's existing home
and make it appropriate.  Transitional spaces
connecting the two areas solved this constraint.
The exterior loggia provides the transition from
day to day secular activities in the house by
going through the serene outdoor room and
arriving at the sacred worship room. A dedicated
library also creates a direct interior connection
with the chapel.
