Lake Home
Completed 2008. Mt Juliet, TN. New Construction

This modern home is made for a modern couple
to fully enjoy lakeside living. It is carefully sited
so that it appears to emerge gently from the
grassy slope and takes in views across the lake.
A stone tower anchors the home and serves as a
sculptural landmark. Long horizontal roof planes
extend out from the tower for visual balance
while also organizing the plan. The main
entrance is discreet, discovered at the end of a
walkway that proceeds along a custom designed
waterfall.
The home also exemplifies many energy smart
strategies. For instance, the reflective metal
roofing remains cool in Summer, reducing
cooling bills. Filtering daylight into the living
spaces and providing cross ventilation in Spring
and Fall reduce the energy demands while
increasing the joy of living on the lakeshore.
